About Legislator Nicolello

Legislator Nicolello is the Presiding Officer of the Nassau County Legislature. He serves as the Chair of the Legislature's Rules Committee and is the Vice Chair of the Budget Review Committee. He is an original member of the Nassau County Legislature, having represented the 9th Legislative District since 1996.

Presiding Officer Nicolello has been a practicing attorney since 1986. He is of counsel to the law firm of Congdon, Flaherty, O'Callaghan, Reid, Donlon, Travis & Fishlinger, where he leads the firm's insurance coverage group. He served as Counsel to the Board of Education of the New Hyde Park - Garden City Park U.F.S.D. from 1987 -2009. He is admitted to the New York State Bar, as well as the Federal District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts. He is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association and Columbian Lawyers' Association (the professional association of Italian-American attorneys).

Presiding Officer Nicolello graduated from New Hyde Park Memorial High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics (Magna Cum Laude) from St. John's University. He received his Juris Doctor from Fordham Law School. He is a member of the Alumni Associations of Fordham Law School and St. John's University.

Presiding Officer Rich Nicolello and his wife Susan have two children, Kathleen and Patrick. Rich is a life-long resident of New Hyde Park.
