About Legislator McKevitt

Legislator McKevitt is a lifelong resident of Nassau County. He received a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Hofstra University where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated first in his class. He received his Juris Doctor from Hofstra Law School where he served as Articles Editor of the Hofstra Law Review.

Legislator McKevitt interned for New York State Supreme Court Justice Marvin Segal and the New York State Attorney General's Office. He has worked in the offices of state Senator Kemp Hannon and U.S. Senator Alfonse D'Amato. He served as Deputy Town Attorney for the Town of Hempstead for nearly nine years where he argued cases before New York's highest court, the Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He also has practiced privately with law firms in Nassau County.

 Legislator McKevitt was elected to the New York State Assembly in a special election in February 2006
