Mr. Blakeman was born in Oceanside and raised in Valley Stream. His father, the late Robert M. Blakeman, was a member of the NYS Assembly (6th Dist. 1961 - 1964 and the 19th Dist. 1966). His brother, Bradley Blakeman, was the original president of Freedom’s Watch, a Washington, D.D. based 501(c)(4) lobbying organization. Mr. Blakeman is a graduate of Valley Stream Central High School Graduate, California Western Law School and Arizona State University. A practicing attorney, he has been admitted to practice law before the U.S. Supreme Court, New York and New Jersey courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts of the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. His areas of practice include real estate, commercial litigation, personal injury, land use, transportation, finance and insurance. He has served as a Senior Fellow of Long Island University's Homeland Security Department.

Leadership posts he has held include Vice President of the American Jewish Congress, Executive Director of the New York Police Chiefs Benevolent Association, former Associate Director of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Foundation and Deputy Counsel for the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Benevolent Association.

He has served on the Boards of the North Sea Insurance Company, Silicon Valley software company Accpac, the Browning School, Crime Stoppers and the Cops Foundation. He has also served as Associate Counsel to both the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association Foundation and the Nassau County Fire Marshalls Benevolent Association.

A Lt. Colonel NY Guard, State of NY Division of Military and Naval Affairs. He is an Honorary Sheriff of the City of New York; Honorary Police Chief of Hempstead, New York; and Honorary Police Commissioner of the Village of Mineola.

Mr. Blakeman was married to Nancy Shevell, vice-president of the Shevell Group of Companies - a family-owned transportation conglomerate, and former MTA Board member.
The couple divorced after 23 years of marriage in 2008 and have one son.
Nancy Shevell married former “Beatles” band member Paul McCartney in 2011.
Mr. Blakeman subsequently married Segal Magori. They reside in Atlantic Beach.
